I'm going to try and avoid spoilers here because if you decide you want to see this film, then I don't want you to know what's coming! I want you to be as shocked, and horrified, and riddled with disbelief as much as I was when I first saw this picture!
And after you see it, you are free to compare it to other movies as much as you want. But for me, director Zack Parker really created something of a superb psychological horror marvel!
Briefly, the story is about a young woman, who is in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy, is physically assaulted in a brutal manner by an unknown assailant. Naturally, after having lost her baby, she falls down a rabbit hole of madness; along with other women she comes into contact with!
The film stars Alexia Rasmussen, Kristina Klebe (Rob Zombie's Halloween), Alexa Havins and Indie Actor & Filmmaker Joe Swanberg! What's special about this cast is that they each bring a unique measure of their own madness as their character counterpoints, and what I, as a viewer notice and ultimately realize, is that it is mostly the female characters that are "bat shit crazy".
The brilliance of the story and the film itself is that Zack manages to inject, perhaps consciously or unconsciously, this inherent sustainable feeling of this haunting melancholy. On one hand you're trying to figure out what the hell is going and why these characters are the way they are, but on the other hand you get the sense that these are all just really sad characters who want something - Which in turn all ties into and has a extremely strong connection to the title of the film. And when you can figure out that connection and make some sense of it, therein lies the cerebral and psychological intelligence of the story. Simply stated: It will knock you on your ass.
